Why You'll Love This Place

A Here Comes The Guide Wedding Venue Review
Read More Show Less

Surrounded by nature's beauty, this relaxed mountain retreat on 5.5 acres in scenic Oak Glen positively exudes timeless charm. Once part of the sprawling, century-old Wilshire apple orchard, the property boasts fabulous views of the San Bernardino Mountains, Lake Perris, and Wilshire Peak. It's no surprise that the current owners fell hard for this little piece of heaven, and created a romantic outdoor wedding venue that will make every nature lover, history buff, and vintage collector's heart flutter.

A sense of calm immediately envelops you amid the majestic oaks, towering sycamores, fragrant lilac fields—and, of course, heirloom apple trees. Many features of this historic venue have been retained but with a twist: An old buzz saw now rests amid delicate vines and wildflowers, while two of the original HomeStead buildings, the rustic Cabin and Cottage, have been turned into comfortable private suites for the couple and attendants to get ready.

The HomeStead's peaceful, courtyard ceremony site is graced with gorgeous old-growth trees whose spreading branches filter the sunlight, dappling the ground below. The wedding couple and party enter through what appear to be old barn doors, and step into an area that's like a magical clearing in the woods. Here, vows are exchanged on a terraced stage in front of the picturesque façade of a country chapel with the green foothills as a backdrop.

The photo ops throughout this locale are amazing, from lush lawns and woodsy paths to a waterfall spilling over boulders into a rock-strewn pool. You might even glimpse a deer or two grazing nearby since the area is a wildlife sanctuary. And the reception courtyard is no less photogenic: With wooden buildings and a weathered water tower lining the perimeter—plus unbelievable panoramas that go on forever—it feels like you're in the midst of a charming movie set with authentic décor and the warm golden glow of gas lamps and overhead café lights.

A raised sweetheart table gives you great sightlines to your guests partying on the dance floor. There's a bar to keep the libations flowing and, as the evening progresses, a fire ring is lit—the perfect opportunity to treat yourselves to s'mores!

Their attentive staff, all-inclusive packages, and in-house vendors mean that you can relax and enjoy the day. And, with only one event per day, their focus is on you. From coordination and customizing your menu and cake, to arranging the flowers, DJ, rehearsal, and décor (they have a treasure trove of antiques and unique items!), they're with you every step of the way. They even offer a few special extras, like a photo booth, late-night treats, and a daytime scavenger hunt for your younger guests. Most of all, they make you feel like family.
