Put a stream on it!

It's no secret that during a pandemic, popping the question in a well-populated location has been put on the back burner...along with extravagant engagement parties. So how do you propose in private while still sharing the milestone moment? We've got the answer: Put a stream on it!

Livestream weddings became a popular method of gathering loved ones together safely and virtually—and now we're seeing proposals follow suit! We've turned to our friends at Lovecast, a simple livestream wedding app, who are happy to share all their tips and tricks on how to livestream that big pop-the-question moment.

And the best part is, livestreaming your wedding proposal isn't just for social-distancing purposes. Include your loved ones virtually for an adventure proposal on a mountaintop, a destination proposal in some far-flung location, or way up high in a hot-air balloon...the sky's the limit!

Now, here's how to pull off a seamless livestream engagement. Take it away, Lovecast!

Map Out Your Marriage Proposal

When, where, and how will you pop the question?! Map out these details first, keeping in mind that you'll need to set up your livestream technology to capture the moment. While it can seem like a daunting task to properly configure a proposal livestream, we promise it's actually pretty simple!

Say Yes To A Streaming Service

This is where an app like Lovecast comes in. We specialize in weddings and proposals, and our uncomplicated app allows for an easy and immersive experience—featuring one-click streaming access for unlimited guests with no app download required.

Scope Out the Engagement Location

Just to make sure everything goes according to plan, it's best if you scope out your ideal location beforehand. You know, to make sure it really is ideal.

Check out the place at the same time of day as you're planning to propose to see what the lighting is like.

If you're asking a friend to help (see below), bring them along to get familiar with the location and figure out where they will stand during the proposal.

Or, if you're using a tripod, find a discreet place for it to stand so it won't make your partner suspicious!

Do A Test Stream

We highly recommend doing a test stream before the actual proposal, just to be sure everything works properly! On the Lovecast App, we automatically create two websites for you: the guest website (for the real event) and the test website (for practicing beforehand).

On the same day you scope out the engagement location, bring your equipment along. Start a test stream and watch on the test website. You can use it to evaluate the Internet connection and camera angle, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the proposal livestream goes off without a hitch.

Ask A Friend To Help

If you've got a friend who can help you livestream your engagement, Lovecast App has an awesome way to let them. Instead of handing over your phone, you can set your friend as a co-host so they can use their own device. They'll be able to handle livestreaming from the best vantage points while you focus on proposing to your partner!

If you've already hired a professional photographer or videographer to capture the moment, ask if they'd be willing to help set up your livestream equipment in advance. While they'll be busy during the proposal itself, they may be able to assist you beforehand.

Set Up a Tripod Nearby

Don't have a friend or a professional to handle the livestreaming for you? No problem! Do it yourself by setting up your phone on a trusty tripod nearby. The nice thing about a tripod is that you won't have to worry about having a shaky video! Your friends and family watching will definitely thank you for that. (And the nice thing about Lovecast App is you can literally set it and forget it!)

Let Your Friends and Family Know Ahead of Time

Calendar yourself to send your friends and family the link to your Lovecast website before the livestream actually takes place. Give them a bit of notice so they can plan to be present to witness your proposal.

With Lovecast, there's no need for them to even download the app! All they have to do is click the link to go to your Lovecast website and the video will be right there.

Let your friends and family know to RSVP, too, so they'll be notified when you're planning to start your stream!

Propose To Your Partner

The big moment has arrived! And with all the prep work you did ahead of time, you can rest assured that your livestream will run smoothly for your friends and family to enjoy.

Whenever you want to relive the magic, you can always return to the Lovecast website after the proposal to watch the recording—or simply go to your camera roll where your event will automatically be saved to your phone!

The moral of this story? Don't let the craziness of the pandemic get in the way of one of the biggest moments of your life! Even if you can't propose in a place filled with all the people you love, you can still have an incredibly memorable engagement with your partner, your friends, and your family there to witness it. It really is the best of both worlds.
